Chocolate Chip Cookies – yes, again

Add one more recipe to the never-ending quest for the perfect chocolate chip cookie!

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 14 Tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 egg + 1 egg yolk
  • 1 1/4 cups chips

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees; line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk flour and baking soda together.
  3. Melt 10 Tbsp butter in a skillet over medium high heat. Cook, swirling constantly, until butter is dark golden brown, 1-3 minutes.
  4. Transfer butter to large bowl and stir in remaining 4 Tbsp butter until melted.
  5. Whisk in both sugars, vanilla, and salt.
  6. Whisk in egg and egg yolk until smooth, about 30 seconds.
  7. Let mixture stand for 3 minutes; whisk for 30 seconds. Repeat 2 more times.
  8. With rubber spatula, stir in flour mixture until just combined. Stir in chocolate chips.
  9. For large cookies, use 3 Tbsp of dough – roll into balls and space out on prepared sheets.
  10. Bake until golden brown and edges have set but centers are still soft and puffy, 10-14 minutes.
  11. Cool completely on baking sheet.
